Intensive Course on Aluminum Metallurgy
Aluminum the most abundant & common metal known to the industry, still presents a lot of questions when it comes to selecting an aluminum alloy for a specific application, its heat treatment, corrosion, joining and finishing. The first edition conducted two years back was designed keeping in mind these critical areas. Success of this edition prompted us to improve it by fine tuning the content and also involve experts from related industries and organizations like HINDALCO, BARC etc.
Intensive Course on Heat Treatment
Heat treatment is a major activity of the chapter members, an intensive course on Heat Treatment was conducted during 6th and 7th February 2020. Course covered not only the basics of heat treatment but also topics such as furnaces, atmosphere, quenchant and an important quality concept of CQI 9. This evoked a great response with participation coming from across the country.
Metallugy of Steels for the Non-Metallurgist
ASM International India Chapter is organizing a two day in-person Intensive Course on Metallurgy of Steels for the N0n-Metallurgist. at Hotel Mirage, Andheri Kurla Road, Mumbai 400059 on April 2021. This course will explain • how steels are made and why they behave as they do • how steels can be given a wide variety of mechanical properties by heat treatment • why steels are alloyed and what can be expected
Basics of Heat Treatment
ASM International, India Chapter held a 2-day program “Intensive Course on Basics of Heat Treatment” at their new training facility; 409, Shristi Square, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, Bhandup West, Mumbai – 400 078 from January 21 – 22, 2022.
Heat treatment is an endeavor to obtain the maximum efficiency of the material under the demanding conditions of service.
Metals Hand book defines heat treatment as, “A combination of heating and cooling operations, timed and applied to a metal or alloy in the solid state in a way that will produce desired properties, that is, it is an operation or combination of operations of heating and cooling of a solid metal or an alloy to endow it with certain predetermined physical and mechanical properties.”
Failure Analysis
